The Precision Plasma is a sniper weapon that can reliably hit enemies at great range. It has high armour mitigation and causes a great amount of damage per shot, but it has high TU cost per shot and cannot burst fire. It causes more damage and has more mitigation than the Precision Laser, but requires more alien alloys.
The Precision Plasma is a useful tool for engaging distant enemy troops in relative safety. The high armour mitigation allows even tough enemy units to be quickly neutralized, but unfortunately the weapon is of limited use in a close range or assault capacity. It suffers from a 50% penalty to reaction fire and receives no bonus to close quarter accuracy like other weapons.
